mHealth

“MHealth” is a special aspect of the digitization of the healthcare system: It describes the technical prerequisites to use health-relevant data from mobile medical devices and so-called “wearables” (eg fitness bracelets) also for the electronic patient dossier (EPD). Fields of application of mHealth include all areas of care, ie prevention, diagnostics, therapy, Rehabilitation, monitoring of patients and in some others also wellness topics. In addition, mHealth solutions are also used in the administrative area, for example to support practice or clinic management. The goal of mHealth is to improve medical care through the use of mobile technologies. This is especially true for rural areas.

In a study conducted by Deloitte and Bitkom, three types of users of M-Health applications could be identified: athletic, chronically ill and obese.
